No more Moneypak and Vanilla card PINs are gone

MoneyPak and Vanilla are services that allow you to add value to a prepaid credit/debit card. This is done by buying a reload card at a local retailer. The card has a code on the back you enter online. This has been popular service for everyone from those who want to reload their own cards to family members who wanted to offer a gift or send money to a lover one.

There had been rumors that the pins would disappear sometime in 2015. Today one of our staff received the email below. This is the first confirmation of the changes everyone had feared. It seems to state that MoneyPak will shut down completely on February 1st, 2015 and Vanilla will no longer offer pin reloads after April 1st, 2015.

That means Moneypak will completely disappear and Vanilla users will only be able to reload by taking their Vanilla card directly to a cash register at a participating store.

Update: A reader pointed out to us that InComm (the company behind Vanilla Reloads) actually made this announcement in a press release on October 24, 2014
